The big money these days isn’t necessarily in content delivery, but in content production, as shown in the push by Netflix, Amazon, and other providers to create their own shows to drive viewers and subscribers. Spectrum Cable TV is entering the original content game with its pickup of L.A.’s Finest, a one-hour action drama series passed on by NBC. A spinoff of the Bad Boys movie franchise, the show stars Gabrielle Union and Jessica Alba.
More on the show from USA Today:
“Finest,” which will premiere in 2019, is based on Syd Burnett, a character first played by Union in the 2003 film, “Bad Boys II.”
According to a show description, the series follows Syd, “last seen in Miami taking down a drug cartel, who has left her complicated past behind to become an LAPD detective. Paired with a new partner, Nancy McKenna (Jessica Alba), a working mom with an equally complex past, Syd is pushed to examine whether her unapologetic lifestyle might be masking a greater personal secret. These two women don’t agree on much, but they find common ground when it comes to taking on the most dangerous criminals in Los Angeles.”
The cast also includes Ernie Hudson, Zach Gilford, Duane Martin and Ryan McPartlin.
